proper weight for freight cars was created by slugger
I'm working on my 70 foot wood chip cars and I was wondering what the best weight the cars should be to work the best.i've never gotten into freight car weights before and I hope someone can help me.
Also, what is the best weight to use? I plan on putting the weights in the tubs under the floor and then seal them
I have ordered a little digital scale already and with your help i can order the weights the first part of the week.
Thank you in advance for any help
the picture at the link below is close to the prototype I am making. the photo is not mine, I found it on the web.

I think the NMRA standards is not expected this.
However, european standards of MOROP (NEM) can serve for guidance:
NEM 302: www.morop.org/fr/normes/nem302_f.pdf
Sorry, i think no english translation.

Everything I run on my layout is 40 to 60 ft. I weight them all .5 to .6 ounces.

I would go 12-14 grams for a 70ft car if I could.

From Morop: minimal 0.12g/mm. So a 70' car is 21336mm long, the Z model is then 96.98mm, round to 97mm. Then the weight would be 11.6g as a minimum.
