i m seeing many of you now exchanging their wheelsets from plastic to metal,,,well what are you going to do with the plastic sets now? well, im very interested in those plastic wheelsets, i m not willing to pay much per wheel, maybe a few cents each or something,, but its better than having all those wheelsets sitting in a box, right. i m an artist, and i have an idea on building something with them. once completed, i might auction it off for sick kids,,something in that range, but i wont be keeping it, nor making a profit from it. i was thinking if i get donations of the wheelsets, to make a plaque for all to see,, im still in the prime of it. it will be railroad related in nature, i dont wanna spoil the surprise. get back to me on any ideas you may have, or ideas on the topic,, i d love the input. canada mike

Mike,
Here is one thing folks can make using any flat car and some of their extra wheel sets.
You can also see them on flat bed trucks occasionally.

Loren, I thought you or Karin were going to make this wheel-rack available for the different flat-cars.

It would be easy to make one of these cars--all it takes is some strip styrene and a bunch of wheels.

well,, about 600+ i thought. i saw a trolley built out of left over wagon kits in ho, the trolley itself took over 145 pieces, took o scale motorized bogies, and actually drove around a loop of track. so i was thinking making a loco out of wheelsets, maybe o scale, or oo scale, i wasnt sure. the thing would have a motor, and drive around,,with tender it could look very cool. i ve done some real crazy things with pop cans n such, turning them into a riding train with 3 cars,,,i hate seeing alot of plastic sitting in a drawer, thats why i asked. but if your making flatcar loads, or other great things,, thats great too.i do alot for the aged, like teach them how to work with their hands again. in calgary n edmonton, i started 8 old age homes with full tools shops, hand and power. mostly from older machines, but we get the odd give away. its to get the guys n girls off their bums, and building with their own hands. we then sell the stuff in malls, and buy newer or better tools and ofcourse materials,,,tho i ve gotten 4 furniture builders to give away their garbage boxes to the cause. which has everything from mahagony to fir in them. i teach them the scrollsaw for free, and i donate scrollsaws to newly opened shops, so they can start learning right away.

i love to help others, and if my art can do that,, then im a happier person. canada mike
