Istvan, I'm always impressed with your work. You webpage is great. How much snow is on the ground now? I'm sure at least Fred will really enjoy the ships. Thanks very much for sharing and Happy New Year. Cheers, Jim CCRR

Hello Istvan,

I think that your ship would look odd in the Lake at Jönköping. Such a beautiful Lake! Do you make small ships or boats? I was there in the winter and not much snow then either. My great grandfather went to Upsalla University a very long time ago. You live in a beautiful city. I especially love the architecture of the Old City of Stockholm. Maybe you can make a Z scale "Vasa" ship?

Istvan,
Well, we, (I) need small Z scale boats of all sorts. The kind you would find at resorts and lakes....ski boats, sail boats, canoes, etc.

Alvaro, are you listening? Anyone? Boats for our rivers and lakes please.

Joe is coming over later today. I had to buy him some healing hand lotion for his sore thumbs. I've got the screws as tight as I can turn them without cutting off all the circulation completely.

Of course, if I wouldn't hang him by his thumbs each evening it probable would help huh?

Helmsman for the slave galley?

I know there are sailors and Navy men here on the Forum. I don't know anything about boats, but I did spend a lot of time watching TV as a kid... So here is the boat I started to build this weekend out of scraps ans what not.

I am still trying to load pics in the gallery.. I did find out today where the macro button on my camera was. I am still working on the boat and now am looking for the proper 7 figures to put around it.

Istvan:

Ships are definitely useful. Besides the small boats mentioned before, there are a few intermodal modelers here who would probably appreciate the "blue water" boats. And then there is Fred with his great little busy harbors.

We were talking about aircraft (helicopters) and other military hardware just a couple of months back.

Kelley:

Nice Minnow.

My Minnow is junk compared to what everyone else builds.. I used scrap from buildings, carved balsa and styrene. I have BAD modeling skills (not fishing for complements, but pun was intended) but boats should be easy to knock out..especially if you are doing them in the water. For those with lazers this should be real easy. Little rectangular shaped john boats in a pond would be easy.
For the blue water folks check out zundmeer as they have a couple' and lots of harbor stuff. Its kind of European style, but the freighter is like the ones that go through the rivers and canals of Europe.
There are lots of ships in paper models. You can always tweak them to make them look more realistic and if you have a good scanner/printer you can make any scale you want.
If you guys can make these really great models and layouts, you can build boats. That's why I built the Minnow. Don't be like the Professor, who could make a nuclear reactor with a couple of coconut shells and some sand, but couldn't fix a 6 inch hole in a boat.

Alvaro, how about making some mow trucks. Like Robert says, the closer it is to the tracks, the better it sells.

Make My Model has some boats- open Chris Crafts, pontoon boats, ski boats and others loaded on trailers...waterline and full hull. FYI so you don't duplicate efforts.

Alvaro,
Thanks for working on boats for us all.

How about some canoes also....water line and full hull. A camp site would have canoes both in the water and on the shore. Also needed are small row boats. I've seen a bunch at lakes where fishermen rent them to go fishing on the lake and also just for pleasure rowing around the lake. Boat trailers would also be nice.

Eventually someone is going to have a mill and log pond and then we'll need those small boats you see that push the logs around.

Getting greedy aren't I? It's just that very little has been done to address the water features on layouts.

Appreciate your efforts and as always, your products are top notch.

The only way someone would come up with better looking boats would be to have an injection machine and now we're talking huge amounts of money.

Why is it always about money or lack thereof?
