Postal cars

Postal cars was created by ausman2001
Once upon a time, like it's British and American counterparts, the DB used to carry a lot of mail and I'd like to represent that part of it's service. Does anyone know if any manufacturers make Z scale mail cars, apart from the ex-KPEV (Prussian Royal Railways) item that Marklin make?

I know where there is a nice 1/1 scale one in Frankfurt at the Communications Museum on the Main river. It wasn't that long ago they had mail cars. It would be interesting to see one.

They are, but rare.

Look one times in Larry's gallery here on site.

The "Kaiserlicher Postwagen" was a kit from Freudenreich, still possible to own about collectors and on ebay.
The "Meckelburg" postwaggon is a kit that Larry produced on his own, no idea if he still has some.

Nothing in Z but a good place to start if you were kitbashing. Might give you some ideas. If you can do a kit, you should be able to modify a wagon.

Thanks for the responses. The "bashing" part of kitbashing is a good description of my constructional abilities, but I could give it a go, even if it's just to prove myself wrong. What I'm after is something for Era 3, so a four axle unit is what I'd be after.

A while ago I saw a two axle Swiss post wagon, but the asking price was around the same as the national debt of a small third world country!

Here is a list of all post cars that I can find. (Not all meet with your requirements.)

Car 8654 : 500 Jahre Post
Set 87105: DRG Post4u/21.6
Set 87350: DB Post4
Set 87580: DRG Post4b17
Car 87582: DB Post4-a/17
Set 87583: KPEV Bp35
Set 87670: DB PwPosti-34a
Set 87672: DRG PwPosti-34
Set 87681: DRG PwPost 4i

That's all apart from some specials depicting post wagons.

Hope that helps (though I doubt it!).

Best wishes,
Chris.

Thanks Chris. A Swiss dealer has an 87582 in stock, so I might talk myself into buying it.

Chris, the dealer is here:

They're asking 49 Swiss Francs for the 87582. At this stage I'm still undecided....

Thanks for the tip but I am trying to give them (EpIII) up in order to save my wallet. Actually, I have the 87520 set that has the same car as DRG. I've already decided to get rid of all my 26mm coaches as they look totally silly going round 195mm rad curves. So if you are looking for EpIII/IV/V stuff, let me know, I mighht just have it.

Best wishes,
Chris.
