Description
This was the very first German designed and built locomotive. The LDE type 1\\\'C1\\\' n2 2T \\\"Saxonia\\\" was designed for long distance travel on the Leipzig to Dresden line, a distance of approx. 100km (60mi). Weighing in at 15 tonnes it had a top speed of 50km/h (30mph). Built in 1838, it was withdrawn from service in 1856.
The model was built by Railex and was part of a set with a Geistwagen.

- There are four Of these in sets on E-Bay Wight now!0
- Well, mine was not working properly when I bought it second hand. It runs but is VERY rough. Oil made no difference and I cannot see how to take it apart.<br />Chris.0
- I've been very careful about running mine....considering the cost and lack of service and/or parts.0
- Sadly I cannot run mine as the Geistwagen is defective and Railex don't seem to be interested in repairing it. I hear that they have appalling after sales service.<br />Best wishes,<br />Chris.0
- I have the complete set and run it from time to time.0
