Military in Z was created by Kelley
For those people out there making mixing military and Z, Andy at Z-Panzer just came out with the M-113 on his website. He also has the modern German APC, the Fuchs (the US bought a version of this German vehicle to use for nuclear, biological, and chemical detection, and would not be out of place in a modern US scene)
His models are a resin type, and they are very lightweight. You have to be really carefull with the tank cannons (my wife took out:( a Tiger ) but they are very finely detailed and would look good on a train in the US or Europe.

I have Andy's complete armor train. it is simply incredible. Some of the best Z resin work I have seen. I keep it in my showcase in my office. I just can't believe the details. You are so right about the canon barrels! Wow, those are tiny!
I have a number of Andy's Leopard tanks. I plan to do a small military scene on the layout.

Micro-Trains announced a runner pack of flat cars with M1 Abrams tanks this month. They set is due out in March of next year. The set looks great!

Some Army 2 sets with the GP35 may still be available. The 4 tank flats will look great with the set.
AFAIK the older Army 1 sets with the F7 may be hard to find now.

The BR57 Armoured Train is indeed an impressive Train!
Since first seeing the Z-Panzer set in Z scale, I have wanted one!!! And, will get one in the future.
If you have ever seen the movie "The Train" you will recall seeing one of these somewhere in the middle of the movie. Large and Majestic!
If you haven't scene the movie, and want to watch a movie that was filmed about 2/3 to 3/4 on a train, then this is the one to watch!!!

I am hoping that Microtrains will come out with a seperate set of tanks that you can buy. I can put them on my German heavyweat flatcars, put them in a motor pool in an American Kaserne on a layout, or mix them with the other vehicles for a scene of the manouvers they used to have over here, for instance REFORGER. In the 70s and 80s and early 90s one would see the differnt vehicles going through those narrow streets of the German towns.
While I am at this moment stuck in one of those Kasernes, with none of my tools or anything to do on my time, I slipped downtown after hours and had some plywood cut, got a minimum of tools, and a piece of foam. Started a Z-Bend module that I have decided will be where I will park my tanks, if I get them.

I'd get a bunch of tanks too- without the cars.
