Standing seam steel roofing

Have several buildings planned where I would like to use standing seam roofing.Can anybody clue me in as to whether or not somebody does this in Z??

ever try a fine comb n heavy tin foil??? looks and works for me!!

For most of us that wouldn't be fine enough. Using the fine lined edges of a medicine bottle gives a much better effect that a hair comb no matter how fine it is, IMHO.

BTW, Robert Ray had an interesting project on his site for making corrugated sheet metal siding/roofing using Al foil and screws. It was for N-scale, but I thought about using a finer pitch to get Z scale sheets. Perhaps, with a little modification, the same could be done to make standing seam roofing. It would seem, that with a comb, screw, medicine bottle cap, etc, that the ridges and valleys would be too close together. But maybe if you took out some of the combs teeth or filed down some ridges on the medicine bottle, you could accomplish it.

Good idea Jeremy. Also maybe I could make an acrylic "jig" on the laser on which you could simply press the foil onto for your roofing. It could be just like you said, a wider space between the ridges. If you are interested contact me and I might give it a try. Heck, I'm going to be on the laser anyway so I'll let you know how it comes out. That would be a handy tool to have around me thinkst.

Did it Jeremy. I made the acrylic plate in the right pattern and it worked. I'll try to take photos tomorrow in the daylight and show you. Looks cool!
