- The carrier above is similar to the Nimitz class. I just used it for a "stand in" for Intrepid as I do not have an Essex class carrier. The Intrepid was a large, fast, attack carrier built in WWII. She had a long career, even retreaving space capsules. A note here: My ship, Maryland Trader, with Intrepid, was in the last convoy to get thru the Suez Canal during the June 67 war. The attack was delayed till we cleared Suez. Our sister, waiting in Port Said had to go all around Africa to get to Bombay as the canal was blockaded.<br />Just some "dust bin" information0
